Hillhurst is a fantastic neighborhood located in the northwest, within the inner city of Calgary. Limited by the 8th N and 16th N Avenues to the north, 10th Street W to the east, the Bow River to the south and 14th and 18th streets to the west. It borders with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology grounds to the north-east. Hillhurst was established in 1914 and is one of Calgary’s older neighborhoods with a land area of 2.1 km².
This neighborhood has three schools, including the Hillhurst Community School (Public), Queen Elizabeth Elementary School (Public), Queen Elizabeth Junior and Senior High (Public). Also the St. Joseph School (Elementary and Junior High), St Mary’s (Senior High) and St. Francis (Senior High), all three belonging to the Calgary Catholic School District, provide a dual track Year Round program for students from the greater North West Calgary Area. Hillhurst is also home of a post secondary college institution: the SAIT Polytechnic (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology).
